City-killer' asteroid 2024 YR4 could hit the moon instead of us, scientists say

" about as wide as Walt Disney World's Cinderella Castle is tall" What is the target audience of this article anyway? 12 year old girls?

Something 'kicked' this hypervelocity star racing through the Milky Way at 1.3 million miles per hour (video)

Very interesting article, but this bit got me wondering: This investigation revealed that the star belongs to a class of the oldest stars in the Milky Way: L subdwarfs. These stars are very rare and remarkable because of their highly low masses and relatively cool temperatures. I think it...

Possible hints of life found on distant planet – how excited should we be?

I have never come across any anaerobic organism which produces DMS in large enough quantities, and if K2-18b were oxygen rich, it would be obvious from the Spectrum. On Earth, DMS is mainly associated with phytoplankton, which actually produce oxygen. So at this stage, it's an anomaly without...

Current Apparent Magnitude as of April 29 is 10.5 at 1.8AU distance according to Heavens Above. Very promising for those in the Northern Hemisphere at least. (Count me out)

Astronomers just discovered a comet that could be brighter than most stars when we see it next year. Or will it?

Hopefully this will be spectacular enough to be a naked eye object. Estimated magnitude -0.9. at closest pass to Earth. Just one minor gripe. What does "just discovered" mean? Maybe it means discovered early last year (15 months ago). C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) was discovered by Purple...
