FAA closes investigation of SpaceX's Starship launch mishap

I agree, engine problems are a big issue. They did fix a fuel leakage issue recently, but that might not be enough. Rigorous testing using a test setup you mention will not happen. It will take too much time and they have to launch next week (or before that). It might take a year or so to...

Celebrate 400 years of moon maps for Apollo 11's anniversary (gallery)

“Our personal histories influence how we discuss the moon. The Library of Congress is one of many U.S. museums with holdings from different cultures and genders, showcasing the diversity of viewpoints about our lunar neighbor.” 10 for wokeness.

How would we decode a message from ET? New project will give us a trial run

Might be the message is loud and clear to us all.

Bringing Mars samples to Earth could could cost an extra $1 billion, but NASA should totally do it, experts say

Waste of time and money, the first Muskonouts will be back (from Mars) with lots of samples before this mission is launched.

Russia planning to go reusable in 2026 with new Amur rocket

Actually, they did launch and land a Buran shuttle, and it performed flawlessly (at least from the outside).

Strange chemical in clouds of Venus defies explanation. Could it be a sign of life?

Oldest questions of humans were not about “are we alone” or “is there life on other planets“. The Greek questioned everything but some themes were: “Who are we? How can we be happy? Does the universe have a purpose?“ Makes sound “are we alone” a bit childisch.

NASA wants to buy moon dirt from private companies

I hope they (NASA) remembers they don't own the moon.

What Star Trek has taught us about diversity

"But, what was immediately remarkable about this television show wasn’t its setting or tone: It was its cast." In a way it is sad to look at people with coloured glasses. I looked at it in black and white on a very small TV and it was the best and most inspiring thing I ever saw. I wonder how...

Science fiction builds mental resiliency in young readers

I raised myself with SF. I realize now why I get so angry about and fundamentally cannot understand racism/discrimination. Mental health can also be negatively affected, read Ian M Banks (Culture series) for example. Psychology of the higest level, literature of the highest level, very...

Why SpaceX has to wait until Saturday for its next try to launch astronauts for NASA

I see no explanation why launch today (for example) is/wasn’t an option. Falcon is more than powerful enough to add some corrections to get it in an optimal orbit. Some rockets even have a 30 minute launch window to the space station. Or is it that reuse takes too much power?

Astronaut Christina Koch Breaks Record for Longest Space Mission by a Woman

It would be better to remove all words referring to sex from language. Because they define difference. Scandinavia for example has no man/woman label on toilets (its just a human blob). Please indicate what kind of inequality is removed by keeping records of days in space for men and women. In...
