8 nations sign US-led Artemis Accords for moon exploration and beyond

Russia seems to be regressing into doublespeak like the USSR days. They want less US domination (in space) but it is the same as ISS agreements so what is their problem. I think it is an excuse to not invest, as they just can't afford it on their small oil and arms income.

NASA is testing the first of its new moonwalking spacesuits

The suits are to keep them alive and healthy, not win beauty contests. The vacuum of space will kill them in seconds. The radiation in days or even hours. They are using older tech because this time, there is no Apollo gold plated budget.

Gravitational waves: Do they suggest a bang at the end of the universe?

Some points I observe; 1. just because our understanding of time begins at the big bang (or ends at a singularity), does not mean there is no "Time" before it. We accept differing laws and constants in alt. universes, inflationary universes, etc. The time will be consistent with what ever...

NASA astronaut Jeanette Epps to make rookie spaceflight aboard Boeing's Starliner

"I call shotgun". Wow. I remember that when I was a kid in the '60s. Do they still use that term? Good luck to them.

Could carbon-foam probes bring interstellar flight within reach?

This is a nice twist to Breakthrough. Possible a combination of the 2 may be considered. coating the sphere with a reflection coat may improve things. launching the Breakthrough from near sun may improve that method. Adding solar cells (monolayer printed on the surface) gives power during flight...

NASA creates Mars sample-return independent review board

Seems kind of redundant to send a rover to pick things up and then need another rover to take them to the return ship. Why not just use the existing rover to go to the landing spot. It would also allow knowledge of the landing site to make it more safe and precise.

A car-d asteroid made the closest Earth flyby a space rock has ever survived

I guess the distance reported is to the surface of the Earth. Earth being about 4000 mi in radious. It seems od that is the closest "miss" ever recorded. The astroid that lit up Russia a few years ago hit the atmosphere and that is only about 60 miles high. Would be cool to see one cut it that...

When worlds collide: Stunning 3D simulation shows what happens in giant planetary crashes (video)

Need a much slower playback speed. But great video. Some very interesting dynamics. Are these videos available on youtube?

NASA needs your help teaching its Curiosity rover how to drive on Mars

The article points to Zoonivers to help but there is nothing on Zooni like AI4Mars . By searching for it on google I found this. https://www.zooniverse.org/projects/hiro-ono/ai4mars/about/faq Looks like this site edits mu URL so try googling...

'Looking at an alien sky': New Horizons probe sees shifted star positions (photos)

I wonder if this new view can improve the distance measurement any. This is a pretty good base line but the pointing accuracy and resolution are toy like compared to present telescopes. Present base lines are the orbit of Earth.

Russia wants to land 3 next-generation Luna spacecraft on the moon by 2025

It seems like every few months that Russia comes out with a new plan or rocket that on paper is better than any western device or program. And they never get off the paper. Their income is something like 75% from oil and on a good day, pays the rent. Just. Rusian scientists are very smart but...

SpaceX's Starship SN4 prototype fires rocket engine for 1st time

Actually the motor has been fired before in testing but the 1st time here and mounted. Thanks for the report. We are following day by day.

Don't worry he hasn't got a gun...Ah, Don't worry he hasn't pulled the gun out...Ah, Don't worry he hasn't pointed the gun...Ah, Don't worry he hasn't pulled the trigger on the gun...Ah, maybe we should get our gun out?
