    Can anyone help me figure this out?

    Although It was 11pm at night I think it was a mirage. Probably it was heat leaving the earth that night which may cause a sheet of water to give that illusion.

    I don't know if the perseverance rover took samples of the rocks but it looks like there was a salty ocean before it was instantly boil away by some sort of intense heat leaving some parts that look like salts deposit.
