This might help - Wow and it happened on April Fools Day!

I do like this part - the last time it happened was 0401 BC - Astronomers, just a laugh a minute!

In astronomy, "occult" means to pass in front of. An occultation is an event where one object hides another

1. (transitive, astronomy) To cover or hide from view.

The earth occults the moon during a lunar eclipse.

(Wiktionary)

Kindly treat one another with respect. It is not serosang's fault for not knowing the definition of the term.

Oh, I thought it had something to do with Tarot Cards

Tarot cards are irrational nonsense, and have nothing to do with this thread.

serosang, after reading the article at your link, I have an answer for your question. Sky and Telescope is playing a little joke. Venus will not occult Jupiter or Saturn. In fact, Saturn is presently near opposition, and in completely the wrong part of the sky to be occulted by an inferior planet.

They think it is funny to print this. I have no other explanation. The other predictions on the page appear legitimate.

The object occulting another is both in front of, and behind something. This is the nature of things.
Nothing can be covered that has not been covered or will cover.

What's a satthralope? Is it more like a cantelope or a bassalope?

That's quite enough of that, MeteorWayne. You've been warned. You know you stand alone. I'll be bringing this up with our superiors.
