for it's time Jules Verne's science, including physics, in his book, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea", was complete fiction, even no more than science fantasy. Completely unrealistic. He was a visionary far ahead of his time. Thank goodness for the likes of Jules Verne, those so 'unrealistic' types, then, and today! "Real" comes from their fantastic dreams... their fantastic vision.

Seems Hidden Figures should have gotten a honorable mention.

I agree with Apollo 13, Contact, and The Martian. The other two, not so much.

I guess they never saw 2001, the most realistic ever. There is also “marooned” from the 60’s…
