If the US lands on the moon in 2019, which is within the timeframe given by bush, it will have been 50 years since the first landings.

It makes me pause for thought. Apollo really was ahead of its time, it was a symbol of what could be done if the desire and will was there.

My hope is that this time it is permanent. Regular missions, expansions, eventually private sector involvement, and that come 2035, no one is saying:

"hey, wasn't it cool when we were on the moon, maybe one day we'll go back".

actually it would be kinda fitting tribute. some would be oblivious to it`s significance, others would realize things like this shouldn`t happen. & i`m certain similar events will occur in future. cuz we really haven`t learned yet. we`re in a similar military situation as then, which syphons funds from progress. let`s see what will be the "New Apollo". Mars?, ISS??
