I just want to express my appreciation to shuttle_guy for all his help and wisdom over the last two and a half years.
You have endured insults, rants and lots of dumb questions.
You have certainly opened this 52 year old's eyes and I've been a space nut since 1961.
Glad you were here to share it with us.
I hope you are here for many, many more.
Well done SG.

Ignore Spacefire, SG. (I always do!) You are awesome! Some people on the boards just aren't happy unless they are bashing someone else. Most of us really appreciate your insite and wisdom, as well as your willingness to share it. I have learned a lot from you. Your patience with trolls and people who refuse to do any research on their own is just amazing.

Again, add my thanks and sign me up for the SG fan club!

Rae

"from you signature, ..."

With one high-precision bad taste bomb you manage to insult not only one but two of the most respected members of this site. Persons who are walking, talking space encyclopedias and kind enough to share their knowledge and expertise to educate the rest of us.

Man, you suck so much that NASA should hire you to sit in the vacuum test chamber. They'd save some money not needing to run the vac pumps. OK, it might be difficult to open the hatch after the tests if your sucking is chronic. But maybe it pauses while you sleep?

Frankly, I'm amazed he even hangs around here and hasn't just gotten bored and moved on! We are truly lucky to have him around. We also need to convince him to give Apogee a call so he can write and publish some memoirs! I'd be first in line to buy.

Outside of some troll like comments by someone who is best ignored, this has been an excellent thread!

I to, would like to thank shuttle_guy, it is really great to have someone who is not only very knowledgeable, but also is well connected within NASA. It at least gives me a feeling of actually knowing what is going on!

There are many great posters on these boards, but I appreciate SG the best of all!!

Yes I agree thank you so much for putting up with all of us crazy people and our rabid amounts of questions! Your'e definitely one of the forum's main assets ... why they haven't made you a mod now is beyond me!

And as for Spacefire, I think he was just trying to make a harmless joke. It may have been in bad taste but I don't think we should go accusing him of trollery over it.

Although I always had this vision in my mind of shuttle_guy going to the pad to do some work on the orbiter and when he tweaks something or another Discovery says "What are you doing, Dave?"

is there some sort of hierarchy here which dictates who can jab at who?
cause that's the feeling I got right now.
I don't have anything against S_G or propforce or anybody here, and I never minded when some people debating me got a bit hot and made some unkind comments.

If some here feel I went over that line, I am pretty sure their sudden burst of righteousness against me was at least partly infused by our differing opinions over space issues.

however, because generally I enjoy this forum, I am going to apologize to Shuttle_guy and propforce and promise I shall avoid making them targets of my sometimes misguided attempts at humor.

http://asteroid-invasion.blogspot.com

http://www.solvengineer.com/asteroid-invasion.html

While I believe the STS program should be discontinued now and forever, I also wanna thank S_G for a precious and expert inside view that we would never otherwise have.

We're a lucky bunch here at SDC.
"2012.. I'd just like to add my thanks also to Shuttle_guy, whose knowledge and patience are a huge asset to this message board. I've learnt an immense amount about manned spaceflight in general, and the Space Transportation System in particular, over the last few years from SG. I've always felt the real strength in message boards is in sharing knowledge and expertise, rather than in impassioned debates, and SG has been fantastic in supplying the former to the readers here.

So SG, congratulations on a successful STS-114, and here's to many launches more, hopefully with you on SDC!
