The Perseverance Helicopter is just the start for new vehicles to explore Mars and other planets. Astronauts and future visitors; and even permanent future inhabitants; of the Planet Mars; will need a new class of vehicle to safely explore the planet, in a shorter period of time. What the Mars Helicopter has proven is the use of aerial vehicles can be flown on any planet or moon with an atmosphere and the design of these vehicles will not require a gigantic leap in new technology.
Unrelated to this subject certain "jokester's," such as James Corden on late night TV; are ridiculing the accomplishment. Corden even made the statement "The area around the Helicopter looks like the Nevada desert." This statement when made by non-scientists, lays the foundation for a new group of critics who are opposed to interplanetary exploration for various reasons.
The Perseverance Mission is one of the final steps prior to Manned Missions to Mars and beyond. It is an extraordinary accomplishment which should not be underestimated or ridiculed.
