Why not the Eagle?

A modular design, using ATV technology could be docked together... multipurpose cargo docking point, suitable for personnel, science equipment, materials...
Command module and engine sections detachable for re-integration with other modified elements...

Besides, it looks NIFTY!

I already know it'd have to be modified size-wise, but even at it's current scale, it could be used quite effectively for hops across the lunar surface... what kind of ideas does this design inspire in anyone? I'm thinking of putting together a silly little "real-world" spec sheet based on real components that would make sense...

I always did like those and some of the NASA concepts aren’t really that different!

This one is from projectconstellation.us

Hey, welcome aboard! Don't be ashamed -- SF is a great topic for a first post.

(By the way, there is a Science Fiction section on this message board which you might enjoy. Make sure you check it out sometime!)

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"
