Early Monday morning, 11-8-04, I saw an amazing display of aurora shimmering in greens and reds extending from the far northern sky to at least 30 degrees past the zenith towards the south. A nexus seemed to be centered directly overheard where many of the rays met. I've seen auroral dispalys before, but never this bright and beautiful. I woke my wife up from a sound sleep to look at it with me and she was so impressed, she thanked me for waking her. If anyone else saw this display, I would be interested to hear their comments and where they live in the U.S. (or elsewhere). Glad I didn't go to bed early! By the way, I live in SW lower Michigan.

I'm also in west-central Wisconsin (LaCrosse area). After seeing them from my back yard, my girlfriend and I drove out of town to check out the display. This was a very good show. It was mostly white-green with redish backgrounds. It pretty much covered the whole sky, including the south (although it didn't extend to the horizon in the south).
