It's not impossible, but it does seem improbable.

Then again, consider how we work with animals we don't wish to disturb -- duck blinds and basic camouflage.

It would stand to reason that a civilization sufficiently advanced to master interstellar probes would also know how to make those probes appear to be unremarkable and blend into the background.

a cigar- or disc-shaped object

A cigar shaped asteroid?

We have a lot of dumbbell shaped binary asteroids in the solar system but not one single cigar shaped asteroid. (Out of 100’s of thousands of asteroids) A binary is unlikely to spin that fast without separating.

Nada on disc shaped asteroids too. Gravitational collapse leads to a somewhat spherical if lumpy shape.

What process could create a cigar or disc shaped asteroid? How could such a shape be gravitationally stable?

What about the peculiar alien markings from a long dead Empire that were seen on Oumuamua?

What could the symbols HMS QE III mean?

Can anyone provide clear photos of these alleged symbols. I have found plenty of images of Oumuamua, many artists' interpretations, some labelled 'spaceship', but nothing to convince me of any "peculiar alien markings from a long dead Empire" and nothing resembling "the symbols HMS QE III .

Cat :)
