This would DOUBLE the launch RATE from one every six months to one every three months.
Does anyone believe that NASA has found great simplifications and efficiencies to warrant this?

Of course, Mike Griffin said this morning that Jeff Hanley made "screwed up" in how he announced the slip. See www.nasawatch.com
"We probably will be making changes in our intermediate milestones in order to best preserve - with maximum confidence - the end state for the availability of the Ares- Orion But that's the goal."

Slippery slope indeed!

More mundane people may be looking at the compressed timetables and moving targets and think its slipping, but obviously at least i am just way below understanding levels.
Shifting dates are not a slip, if NASA admin says so.

The delay was to be expected.

Expect more delays as design & planning matures.

At this stage, the delay has very minimal impact. It is when the vehicle is ready and thousands of people standing waiting for launch, then a delay would be very costly.

No, it's when the Congressional Budget Office is looking over your shoulders when you should get nervous. If they lose faith in the Ares I then those people down the road will have to find something else to worry about.
