Astronomers find hundreds of 'hidden' black holes — and there may be billions or even trillions more

The story notes "supermassive black holes — black holes with a mass at least 100,000 times that of our sun" as the apparent limit of detection. One is compelled to wonder what the size distribution is for SMBHs between this lower limit and the upper limit, especially over time. It also make one wonder how many BHs there are which are smaller, and perhaps in most cases currently undetectable. Seems like their combined numbers could constitute a substantial mass.
