<p>Why can't someone just build a jet engine strong enough to withstand higher combustion? Use it to climb up to highest possible altitude and start pumping oxygen into&nbsp; the jet engine as you do with the fuel. As long as their is that air and fuel mixture there will be combustion. </p><p>&nbsp;Basically you have a jet engine that has been modified or been built to withstand higher combustion pressure from using pure oxygen. You need the main shaft modified to withstand the higher rpm caused by greater combustion and at the higher altitude there is almost no air and dust particles to resist against the compressor turbine blades. </p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Basically if this concept works, almost anyone can go into space. We don't plan to lock them down anymore. Since Aviation.com lost its community in the relaunch, this is the forum in which you should post aviation-related topics.
