<p>The guy was a lifelong Whovian before he was offered the part of the Doctor. (In fact, when they did a retrospective documentary aired immediately prior to the first epsiode of the revival, "Rose", David Tennant supplied the voice over, albeit in his native Scottish accent.) Some of his over-the-top frenetic behavior in his first few episodes may be partly due to that; he's definitely settled into the part now, having got over the absolute fanboy dream thing.
