If you don't know what "Space Seed" is, then you probably aren't interested in this thread.

Here are some better endings for "Space Seed":

1) Kirk gets "The Bends" during the decompression session
2) Kirk gets a court martial for letting Khan read classified tech manuals
3) Whoever made it possible to destroy the ship by pressing a few unlabeled buttons in a certain sequence is never allowed to design anything again.
4) Kirk pulls the useless plastic pipe out of the engineering console, hesitates when he wonders what the gadget is, and Khan kills him.
5) Kirk hits Khan with the useless plastic pipe which does no damage. Khan then kills Kirk.
6) McGivers, upon discovering Khan's plan to take over the ship, reports the plan to Kirk who then locks up Khan in the brig.
7) Khan disables the knock-out gas system before Kirk tries to use it and Kirk fails to take over the ship.
8) McGivers, when given the choice of a court martial or going down to Hell-World, opts to take the court martial.
9) Instead of the whole decompression bit, Khan simply kills the hostages one by one with a phaser until all that's left are low level grunts who would rather work for Khan than be phased out of existence. Khan then attempts to take out the remaining starships in the fleet but is taken out by Klingons first.

10) The cryogenics system works as well as the REAL systems of the 1990's worked, and Khan and Company are found to be frozen slabs of dead meat, ice crystals having frozen and ruptured all their cells.

11) Kirk discovers someone else in the Universe with an ego as big as his and falls in love with Khan. Khan admits that for a mere human Kirk is the best and does likewise. Kirk sets Khan up in a small cabin near the teleporter where the 2 shag every available female in the galaxy. Alas their egos come to blows when the inevitable argument over who shagged the most, the best arises. Spock realizes the futility of the situation and sets the Enterprise on a course for the gaylactic barrier and then phasers the controls just after beaming the crew to safety. Kirk and Khan are set on a course to nowhere, endlessly fighting each other. Spock takes the only logical course left to him and steps out the airlock.

The End.

No one has an ego as big as Shatn--err, Kirk's. I have read that the original climax to "Space Seed" was a phaser fight, Khan's people versus Enterprise crew. McGiver died. We always wondered Back in the Day--when Star Trek was a huge hit in re-runs at 5:00 p.m. weekdays, circa 1973 when we were in high school--why Khan was able to access classified info about the Enterprise. I thank the OP for this thread. There are 77 other classic Trek episodes that could be picked on as well. ;)
