I live in NW Missouri and yesterday morning, Apr.12th. about 0530,<br />I was on my deck looking up at the Big Dipper. A bright light appeared in the middle of the 'dipper' part and appeaered to be moving. It was only visible for about 3 to 4 seconds. It was about as bright as Venus, very visible. Was this possibly some type of sattelite or space station? It never left the inside of the dipper part.

The area around the Big Dipper seems to get a lot of irridium Flare activity...

It's a popular asterism to go outside at night to look at, and folks remember its name.<br /><br />Folks who are looking at Musca rarely put that in their reports here.<br /><br /> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p><font color="#ff0000"><strong>TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!</strong></font></p><p><font color="#339966"><strong>So many people, so few recipes !!</strong></font></p><p><font color="#0000ff"><strong>Let's clean up this stinkhole !!</strong></font> </p> </div>

Indium flashes can be that short close to midnight, but are typically about half way across the sky shortly after sunset. Neil

I saw two more of these last night!! at about 2030. This time there were two off them almost perfectly in-line with each other. They were located to the N.E. and seemed to be moving along the same trajectory. I was glad to have a friend of mine here when we saw them. It was so cool, they just slowly appeared, grew very bright and then just slowly disappeared, again lasting only a few seconds.

2 points determine a line. How could two not be aligned?<br /><br /><img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" /><br /><br /><br /> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p><font color="#ff0000"><strong>TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!</strong></font></p><p><font color="#339966"><strong>So many people, so few recipes !!</strong></font></p><p><font color="#0000ff"><strong>Let's clean up this stinkhole !!</strong></font> </p> </div>

you need three points to determine a line, two points still leave open an arbitrarily large number of curves. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p align="center"><font color="#c0c0c0"><br /></font></p><p align="center"><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">--------</font></em></font><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">--------</font></em></font><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">----</font></em></font><font color="#666699">SaiphMOD@gmail.com </font><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">-------------------</font></em></font></p><p><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">"This is my Timey Wimey Detector.  Goes "bing" when there's stuff.  It also fries eggs at 30 paces, wether you want it to or not actually.  I've learned to stay away from hens: It's not pretty when they blow" -- </font></em></font><font size="1" color="#999999">The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"</font></p> </div>

I am standing in my yard looking up.<br /><br /> I see two seperate blinks (anywhere in the sky).<br /><br />How can there not be a single straight line joining the two?<br /><br />(sit in your chair, extend both arms and index fingers, sweep both arms rapidly and wildly around your head. A line always joins your index fingertips. Something to contemplate while camping out in a rubber room if you do this in public)(I am at the library now, and just got 'the look'.)<br /><br /><img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" /><br /><br /> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p><font color="#ff0000"><strong>TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!</strong></font></p><p><font color="#339966"><strong>So many people, so few recipes !!</strong></font></p><p><font color="#0000ff"><strong>Let's clean up this stinkhole !!</strong></font> </p> </div>
