So now that Bill Nelson is head of the agency China is somehow a threat to be taken seriously? Many previous administrators called for increased US funding of its space efforts only to be shunned by Congress. Why is it different under a new administration? Never mind we know the answer.

China not only wants to visit Mars, they want to claim it.

There is an old, but current saying "One can not quarrel with success". Notwithstanding accusations whether China steals technology and "lunch money", they have shown very capable industrial and scientific applied capabilities. For that they deserve both respect and credit.
