Sounds like an efficacious was to spend the taxpayers' money.

Sounds like a good idea to me. And, I would expect it to cost less than many other space exploration projects.

I hope it is functioning by the time the next interstellar piece of space stuff (rock, comet, alien space craft?) comes whizzing through our solar system at more than solar escape velocity.
