Yeah, I think Tim Burton would be a good choice for director here. And I guess J.D. would be a good Barnabas Collins, he has done alright in other roles of this nature.

But remembering D.S. as a high schooler, and talking about it in class, I still have some reservations about him stepping into the teeth of the old Barnabas Collins.

P.S. I probably will be looking for it then, but personally I still like movies like the original Psycho, and not the newer versions of Norman. The original shower scene I think was so much better when you imagined the blood in the drain, then seeing all that gore without any imagination of today's scenes. That may be the deciding factor for me in this kind of movie.

B&W definitely has it's place. Films like Psycho, Citizen Kane, early film noir and German Expressionism should be seen no other way but their original form.

Colorization? Pffftttt....

When I was a kid, I got a set of genuine "Dark Shadows" vampire teeth. I loved Dark Shadows. It came on, IIRC, right before or after the soap operas my mom used to watch.
I put on my robe and wizard hat...

When I was a kid, I'd watch "Dark Shadows" almost every afternoon after school.

Then I'd lay awake at night, staring at my darkened bedroom window -- waiting for Angelique to appear.

That show had an effect on me.
Just tell the truth and let the chips fall...

Angelique probably had that effect on a lot of us.

Barnabus should have nailed her instead of whining about Josette all the time.

When Dark Shadows was being reshown in the early 80's, friends would schedule classes around it.

Dude; my mom is gonna be ecstatic to hear about that one. She was absolutely hooked on that show until she'd managed to see them all. She didn't see it when it was first on; she caught it on Sci-Fi Channel. I think she's got in on DVD now.

She'll be pleased to hear that Johnny Depp is taking the role of Barnabas Collins; she'll be very concerned about the part getting done wrong, but since she likes Depp, I expect she'll be okay with that.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"
