Have not been around much lately, but was watching the Avengers from BBC A, and saw that Dr. Who would be coming to the BBC in America this Nov. At least there will be something I can watch, or want to tune in to, on that channel now.

Whatever happened to it on SciFi? I missed some of the last shows, and never found the place or opportunity to catch up.

You should have watched Life On Mars. Great premise. A Manchester cop gets hit by a car and wakes up in 1973. He's still the same person, he's still a cop, and he has to try to figure out if he's a time traveler, a lunatic, or in a coma. BBC A just finished showing the first season, 8 eps I think, and I don't know how far behind the BBC airings they are.

Anyway...I really liked the Christopher Eccleston Doctor. I was dissapointed to find out that he only did one season. As for the last few episodes of that season, it's pretty complex to explain on this board, but it involves a plot by the Daleks who are the creation of the last Dalek to survive the destruction of thier race to eliminate The Doctor. We find out the significance of the words "Bad Wolf" that keep appearing, and it's Rose who saves the day. Unfortunatly, The Doctor has to absorb a large amount of raw energy, which leads to the premature distruction of his body and Rose gets to see his transformation into a new one, which leads directly into the start of the next season's Doctor.

Um....

I know that's not much. I really hope you can get to watch the rest of that season. I guess that you could check to see if YouTube has them anywhere.

BBC America will be running it? That's a surprise; I thought that the package they sold to Sci-Fi gave Sci-Fi exclusive broadcast rights within the United States. Ah well. I don't mind. I'm just glad to hear that BBC America finally wised up and realized that they shoudl actually run one of their most lucrative shows.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

I'm just checking Gallifrey One right now for news, and here are some random tidbits:

The Hugo Award for best dramatic presentation (short form) went to the Series One two-parter "The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances". Babylon 5 used to hold sway over this particular Hugo; I wonder if Dr Who might be set to do that as well?

Sci-Fi Channel will run Series Two of Doctor Who starting Friday, Sept 29. They'll run "The Christmas Invasion" followed directly by "New Earth". That will commence their airing of Series Two.

I checked tv.yahoo.com and found that Sci-Fi will actually run a big Dr Who marathon that day, so it'll be a good chance to catch up. Starting at 7AM CDT, they'll run Dalek, The Long Game, Father's Day, The Empty Child, The Doctor Dances, Boom Town, Bad Wolf, The Parting of the Ways, and then go straight on to Christmas Invasion and New Earth.

BBC America will not be running the new series. However, they have signed an agreement to help Sci-Fi promote it. So watch closely the next time you see a commercial for it; they may give broadcast times.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Callie,

I was hoping you would respond. I was talking with my wife while that commercial was on, and tried to get her to cease from talking for a moment there, but you may know how successful that is. Thanks for the update on the other Dr. Who shows. I started missing them at graduation, and haven't caught up since.

As to Life on Mars, I have caught a show or two since it started, but did miss the first couple of shows. It does look interesting, but seems to have the primus of future cop trying to instruct the old cop how to do new things.

How did he get to be a active cop in that time period, or is he just a interested observer and have a PI status there.

BBC story:

Dr Who 'longest-running sci-fi'

Doctor Who has been named TV's longest-running sci-fi show, after 43 years and 723 episodes, according to the Guinness Book of Records.

"This achievement is all thanks to the remarkable production team who first created Doctor Who," said Russell T Davies, who penned the TV revival.

He also thanked the audience "who have kept it alive for all these years".

The series began on 23 November, 1963, and was revived in 2005 after 16 years off the screen.

Full Story

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

Cool. I've seen a few of the new ones and they're quite good. Very much in the feel and spirit of Dr. Who.

Just watched Dr Who season 3 episode 1 last night - Smith And Jones. Clever premiss! Oh I so much like Freema Agyeman more than Billie Piper. A far more intelligent character!

Whilst we wait for the image to clear, here is a link to one website with her bio - Freema Agyeman.

Talking about life on Mars, the main actor there, is going to play, . . . on Dr Who . . . . .

The MASTER!.

How about THAT for coincidence!
