We are only looking in 3 dimensions. THEY will be operating in other dimesions but will enter any or all of our 3 dimensions at times and places for various reasons. In other dimesions chances are our laws of physics hold to varying degrees, or not at all, therefore their methods of propulsion will be beyond our comprehension, as also will be their methods of communication. However, some of us may have the ability to reach into other dimensions and it will likely be such people that have the best understanding of any alien civilization, and it will be those people who will have the ability to communicate.
