  • Denial of Core Catholic Doctrines:
Bruno was accused of denying the Trinity, the divinity of Christ, the virginity of Mary, and transubstantiation.

  • Pantheism and Reincarnation:
His pantheistic views, which saw God as immanent in the universe rather than transcendent, and his belief in metempsychosis (reincarnation) were also seen as heretical.

  • Cosmological Views:
Bruno's belief in an infinite universe with multiple worlds, rather than a finite universe with Earth at its center, was a major point of contention.

  • Other Heretical Propositions:
He was also accused of denying the eternity of creation, the equivalence of divine and created powers, and the soul as the form of the human body.

  • Refusal to Recant:
Despite being presented with a list of heretical propositions to recant, Bruno refused, leading to his condemnation as an "unrepentant, pertinacious, and obstinate" heretic.

  • Burning at the stake:
He was burned at the stake in Rome's Campo de' Fiori on February 17, 1600.

This is a post to honor our out with the old in with the new? Is him burning at the stake new to anyone? I’d love to have a conversation about 400 years ago and human ego
