A few months ago, someone calling himself Eric Julien made a similar claim which of course, did not come to pass. There is a passing comet called Swan but as its passing, no chance of collision. Everytime some pseudo scientist or scammer heres of a passing comet, its automatically going to hit us so they would have you believe.

But as has been pointed out here, there would be confirmation from other observatories if this were true.

My borrowed quote for the time being:

There are three kinds of people in life. Hi there, Welcome to SDC.

I agree with MeteorWayne.

There is so much Pseudoscientific nonsence purporting to be 'real science' & quite frankly I am sick & tired of it, along with the other members of SDC. There are countless examples of this sort of nonsense, like the Apollo moon hoax (total utter rubbish, NASA astronauts did go & 12 did walk on the lunar surface), the Mars Rovers Spirit & Opportunity are actually in deserts on Earth (total c**p, they really are on Mars, doing a fantastic job, well past their design lives) our moon going to crash into Earth, the Satun moons Mimas & Iapetus are alien space stations, Viking 2 lander images of rocks in Utopia Planitia on Mars, displaying lettering that are prophesies of mankind's destruction, left by martians, planet dissolving acid cloud on its way going to destroy us, missing comet SL9 fragment missed Jupiter in July 1994 & is going to hit us, etc, the Earth's inner core is going to become a black hole causing our planet to collapse in on itself.

We here at SDC can see through this nonsense for what it is. Just tabloid trash to make money.

As far as I know, there is NO Earth potentially impacting comet currently heading our way.
It will happen eventually, impacts are part of the way of the nature of things in the solar system, look at the moons, images of Mars & Mercury, etc.

Jupiter moon Callisto & Saturn moons Mimas, Tethys, Dione & Rhea are basic pin cushions for asteroids & comets.

Mikeemmert & MeteorWayne are experts on this sort of thing, they will confirm what I have just said.

Once again, welcome to SDC.

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world. Even as a novice, I know these non scientist predictions have yet to come true.

My borrowed quote for the time being:

There are three kinds of people in life. TFW - Whew! Glad that was a typo!

A 200km asteroid would make a very dangerous impact!

Here's the latest news. Everyone else in Russia doesn't want this guy ruining their reputation.
comet crash link

"ST. PETERSBURG, October 12 (RIA Novosti) - Scientists from Russia's central observatory near St. Petersburg have denied a prediction that a giant comet will collide with the Earth in late October, a spokesman for the Pulkovo Observatory said Thursday.

Some media reported earlier this month that Russian astronomer Nikolai Fedorovsky has predicted an October 28 collision of a huge comet with the Earth, which will allegedly unleash devastating tsunamis, earthquakes and avalanches.

Sergei Smirnov, an observatory spokesman said: "Our research does not support media reports that a comet will collide with the Earth in late October."

Smirnov said the astronomer Fedorovsky, who even failed to name the scientific institute he belongs to, is simply seeking publicity.
