I received the email message, pasted below, which I believe is probably a hoax. Attitude of shuttle to horizon seems incorrect and debry trails missing. Any wizards out there can check this? Tried to attach copy but no luck. Will email pix upon request. End, BytesDoc
Sent: Thursday, June 01, 2006 8:36 AM
To: "Undisclosed-Recipient:;"@naxpf003.xxx.com
Subject: Fw: amazing pics

The following pictures are photos taken of the Columbia explosion from a satellite in space. They were sent to me by a friend who works for the government in the Justice Department. You may remember that 7 crew members, including an Israeli, perished Feb. 1, 2003, over Texas as Columbia was re-entering the Earth's atmosphere.
They are sequential pictures of the Shuttle Explosion, taken from an Israeli Satellite in space. They were taken....obviously,just as the Shuttle began to explode over the Earth. You haven't seen pictures like these released by the U. S. Government.

I suggest you check snopes.com.

There are numerous hoax photo's that purport to be of the Columbia - most come from movies beleive it or not.

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

check out the snopes links above.

Pretty funny (and sad, considering the anniversery) that someone would use movie footage to suggest it captured the actual event.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Remember, when you see something like this, the odds are excellent it is a hoax, and snopes is a good place to check it.

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Welcome BytesDoc,

You did the responsible & correct thing, when you smelt a rat with this & come to a site like
this to ask.

All too often people jump on the conspiracy bandwagon & think they know better than those
who are qualified & have researched this through proper channels.

We know what happened to Columbia & her crew on mission STS 107, ET foam striking the
heat shield during launch, but unfortunately there are others who try & make capital of
'disclosure of classified evidence, etc' nonsense & to
be quite honest, I am not alone in getting sick & tired of it.

Your doubts are well justified. It is a hoax, a cruel hoax, but a hoax none the less.

You did the right thing to come & ask.

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world. another thing is the obvious "graphic" nature of the images in the hoax, at least the Snopes.com link I posted - they are obviously Hollywood. Reality is never as cool looking.

This is what a real spacecraft looks like, disintegrating from a difference.

Real: http://www.baltimoresun.com/orl-columbiacrashphotos,1,7332170.photogallery
Fake: http://www.snopes.com/photos/space/explosion.asp

It's to bad people spread these hoaxes, good for Bytedoc for recognizing it's falseness.

Josh

We need a first generation of pioneers.

This does prove one thing.

Israel has some amazing sats, they can photograph the screens of our movie theaters!

The easiest way to begin to prove this is a hoax is to look into how many satellites Israel has actually launched. In addition, the one I'm aware of was launched into an orbit opposite typical orbital profiles due to being unable to launch east because of Iran and or Iraq. Launched west to east and try imaging a target travelling east to west where the speed differential is about 35,000 mph.

Then just imagine the chances that an Israeli satellite would be in the correct position and time to do the imaging. You are not likely to ever see images such as that released by the gov because we too, would have to really plan ahead to get such images. In effect, we would have to expect that the shuttle would be destroyed.

The Armageddon examples look real enough, except that the explosion seems to be occuring on a non-moving target.

My borrowed quote for the time being:

There are three kinds of people in life. The photos remind me of the scene in "Austin Powers 2" when Dr Evil has finished showing footage of the White House being blown up so as to intimidate the President.

"Well, actually that was a scene from the movie 'Independence Day.' But the real laser will look a lot like that."

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Hi: ....I say anyone with a thinking brain knows that in zero g there are no cloudy bright flames when a constructed structure comes apart out there....No oxygen, bunky! Like others who commented about this, it is a cruel joke. It is a matter of some concern that BytesDoc's reported friend in the Justice Dept. apparently has a lot of free time to circulate nonsense like this online. I'm sure there's plenty of urgent work for he/she to do, like busting up terrorist plots and stuff....JBK

My online freeform radio scheme Surf City Sounds Plus is at:

http://www.Live365.com/stations/johns805?play

MySpace radio webpage:

http://www.myspace.com/surfcitysoundsplus

i agree 100%.

I think we SDC members should modify this lovely example of bogus pics and story, explaining that due to Mars being so close that August (and every one since), and as big as the moon, that the Martians shot it down with a plasma beam.
