How and when did the formation of our solar system begin?

Okay, so how did the solar system form, and when did it form, your opinion. There is the standard science model explanation too like the solar nebula using the MMSN (Min Mass Solar Nebula) and when that first appeared.

Me being eager to travel space, I am interested in knowing the origin of everything in our space.
Welcome aboard the forum!

Amazingly, we have a very powerful theory - The Big Bang Theory - which gives us a starting point (13.8 billion years ago) for the Universe. Just after the first tiny fraction of a second, our physics can address the extreme temperatures when all the Universe was condensed into something smaller than an atom, then it expanded and cooled. This expansion caused energy to form quarks then nuclei and electrons.

More cooling, 380,000 years after this beginning, atoms finally formed (electrons joined the nuclei). But at this point in time there was only hydrogen and helium, very little other elements.

The clumpiness of space allowed for clouds to collapse into stars. The interior of stars are so hot that they, over time, will form heavier elements like carbon and nitrogen we now have on Earth.

Some heavier elements are formed when the more massive stars explode (supernovae).

All of those heavier elements made the dust in clouds, which is the ingredients for planets. Planets form as a protostellar cloud collapses, which forms a disk of gas and dust around it, allowing planets to form.

Current theories suggest that over five billion years ago, a nearby supernova created a force wave that acted on and began to compress a large cloud of hydrogen atoms. This compression was significant enough to allow gravity to take over and the hydrogen cloud began to coalesce; eventually resulting in our Sun and solar system.

*How and when did the formation of our solar system begin?*

My observations here. Some answers were provided in the thread. Answers provided in post #4 for example, the *when* starts the origin of the Sun and planets with the postulated Big Bang event, 13.8 billion years ago. In astronomy today, do we see the original pristine gas clouds created by BBN 13.8 billion years ago? These gas clouds are said to later evolve into the solar nebula. Now we have questions concerning how many generations of gas clouds were recycled to create the solar nebula that is said to give birth to the Sun and solar system we see today?

Post #5 uses 5 billion years ago for a possible *when* answer. The *how* part says a postulated supernova event triggered the collapse of a gas cloud *eventually resulting in our Sun and solar system.* Today we do not see that supernova event or even the SNR (supernova remnant). *When* the gas cloud was compressed after the supernova and collapsed to form the solar nebula is details remaining.

The answers provided to the question presents what I call unobservable objects as part of the solution provided.

1. Pristine gas clouds created during BBN that are not observed today.
2. We have n number of gas clouds recycled and n number of recycle events after #1 to create the solar nebula.
3. A supernova that is not visible today, even the SNR that caused the solar nebula to collapse and form the solar system.
4. The solar nebula cloud that formed the Sun and planets - is not observable in the solar system today.

OP joined, made this one post, and was last seen 11th April. Both Rod and Helio replied on that day. We do not know (afaik) whether OP stayed on line long enough to read the replies, but if you do Samuel, we would like to know how you are getting on, and if you have any other questions.
