Do we have "metallicity" data for rogue stars? Do we have such data as a function of distance from Earth?

It seems to me that would tell us something about their age and region(s) of formation.

"If we figure out the origin of intracluster stars, it will help us understand the assembly history of an entire galaxy cluster, and they can serve as visible tracers of dark matter enveloping the cluster," co-author Hyungjin Joo, also of Yonsei University, said in the same statement."

Seems numerous assumptions are needed to explain observations like this. If rogue stars ejected recently compared to cluster ages, that is a problem too as the article indicated. Likely need DM to keep those rogues in line and not escape when using 10-billion-year time scales
