Idea for a science fiction story/movie

Having just gotten finished watching a National Geographic documentary about elephants attacking humans in India and that 70% of India's 20,000 elephants have gunshot wounds, I smell a great story. Imagine that all 20,000 elephants formed an giant formation and set about systematically destroying India. When the Indian army responds with tanks, the elephants sieze artillary and use them like rifles destroying the tanks. An Indian scientist could figure out how to eavesdrop on the elephants low frequency communications network and decode their language. He could find out that the elephants were responsible for the human genetic bottleneck from 80,000 years ago when they all but wiped us out. Using the hindi/elephant translator the elephants could be told of the nuclear weapons that were poised to wipe out the mega herd and a truce could be negotiated. The elephants would get half the country and would allow humans to enter to grow crops that would be shared between the two species.<br /><br />Whatya think? Anyone want to write it? <br /><br />

I think that one ought to be written by someone well-versed in Indian regional customs and language.<br /><br />That being said, I like the idea. Never seen that twist before. Well done!

Well, I'm afraid I have fallen into the trap of ass busting and exhaustion. I have made progress in my head but havent entered the text as yet. Just can't seem to get caught up in the world. Too much to do, too little time.<br /><br />As for India, my hard SF only starts out in India. Two of the main characters are introduced there. The rest of it takes place in Az, Co, and Shanghai, - oh, and a brane universe created in a laboratory... <br /><br /><br />

I've always had an idea for a SF short story that I've just never gotten around to writing.<br /><br />It's an idea that I have never seen done by anyone, and I've read perhaps 500 sci-fi/fanstasy books in my day.<br /><br />One of these days, I'll get around to writing it. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <em>"2012..
