Idea for New Trek Show

My wife and I were discussing the demise of Trek and thought-some of our favorite episodes usually dealt with Klingons, their culture, customs, political intrigue, war-and wondered what a show centering on the Klingon point of view would be like.

We could see conflicts with the Federation and Romulans from the Klingon point of view, how they would deal with Borg and Species 8472, etc.

I heard that the next series was going to deal with Wesley Crusher-like cadets at Star Fleet Academy before Enterprise was canned. I can't imagine a worse idea for a show than 15 year olds learning to be Feds.

I think a remake of "Leave it to Beaver" in the 23rd Century would be amusing. Same characters with Star Trek technology.

Of course, when Beaver got stuck in the coffee cup up in the billboard, you could just beam him out of there, but hey it could work.

How about upgrading "Three's Company" for the 23rd Century?

Like the time Chrissy shorts out the entire power grid for the Planet Homnuculi...

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

The trouble with M:I is that in the 23rd Century, you'd be hard pressed to make things impossible. The technology makes things very possible.

Yeah. Although in that kind of setting, it would be your technology against someone else's, so it does open the door to some very interesting plots.

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

ivanjs - I heard that the next series was going to deal with Wesley Crusher-like cadets at Star Fleet Academy before Enterprise was canned. I can't imagine a worse idea for a show than 15 year olds learning to be Feds.

Good Lord! Don't the producers realize that Wesley was the most hated character of any Star Trek show??!!! Nobody, but nobody, like Wesley! God, I'd throw him out the hatch first chance I got!

<Cmdr. Packet hands Wesley a bucket and a rag />
Cmdr. P - "OK Wesley, time to clean the ship!"
Wesley - "Yes sir!" <salutes with sickening enthusiasm /> "Where should I start?"
Cmdr.P - "Outside"

I hate to say it, but they need to revert to the old formula. Lots of action, a little bit of plot, some mystery and a loose background story. Focusing on the "majesty of the Federation" is getting tireing. They need a good war.

I'm just as motivated to see in depth stories, intrigue, complex plots and character development as the next guy. However, they need to hook their audience first and then teach them to want to enjoy these things as the show developed. The Star Trek franchise is, quite frankly, fairly "tired." They need to spice it up some to gain some market share and then start developing some good storylines.

Btw, did I mention that I couldn't stand Wesley?
I put on my robe and wizard hat...

I'd like to see an Enterprise sequel, set about 5 years after the finale. They are on some new ship called Daedalus, it looks like it should, the white hull, federation logo.

The uniforms will be halfway between the Ent uniforms and the TOS uniforms.

The series would have continuity, and a darker tone, probably a bit more violent and difficult situations. Things will haunt the crew over many episodes.

I mean look at the ent finale trash. Tucker dies and the next day they're all sitting down smiling at the fed founding...come on.

New intro too, have the original TOS music or a montage of the TNG / wrath of khan intro.

there's several individual episodes where you see alternate timelines and universes, so i really don't think they'd make a whole series on it. not to mention that's what Fan Fic is for...

what about a pre-Enterprise mini series where Earth has just established a base on Mars and they are making first contact with all the other races? small cramped starships with no showers, no teleportation-cool shuttles!-many cultural blunders, first interspecies sex...it would be a riot and totally revive the series!

http://asteroid-invasion.blogspot.com

http://www.solvengineer.com/asteroid-invasion.html

How about a ensemble series that deals with a group of construction workers building Kirk's Enterprise. Over the course of a season in the background, you see the ship slowly take shape, but it's just the setting like the bar in Cheers.

Thats not a bad idea.

How about, set in exactly TOS timeline, and referencing it at many points, a Klingon ship and crew programme.

We saw at least twice, Kirk and co thwarting Klingon expansionist subjection of aliens planets. How about a very subtle show, that ON THE FACE OF IT, is complementory of their facistic plans, and views their Empire as a good thing, and the competing humans and vulcans as sort of the Klingon equivalent of Nazis and Imperialist Japanese armies.

You could show how their expansionist economy NEEDS the lands, don't Klingon jobs depend on the slave labour, and seized resources?. Don't Klingon children deserve a chance to advance through the ranks?.

And you could show them having success against the Human intrusions, beating off the murderous attacks of their implacable foe.

It would be a real headspin, you could have Klingon propaganda that seemed just as justifed in its claims as anything bush and blair have claimed.

Don't many people admire soldiers FOR THEIR BRAVERY?. Know anyone as personally brave as a Klingon?. You could have "Our" Klingon crew going about the joint, trying to stem the tide of attacking humans, trying to protect their client planets from what they would see as murderous conquest by these *gasp* COMMUNISTIC "Federationists" that want to bring "Equality" *yuck* and "Liberty" *ugg*, and want to SPREAD PEACE *retch* ! ! !. And all those other Un-Klingon perversions.

Anyone at all watching, that wishes to make such a programme , has my express permisson to do so.

It could have principle Janeway and professor Nelix.

They could show it to people on deathrow.
"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. Wouldn't that cause most of them to request that their execution dates be moved up to tomorrow at noon?

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

I think Star Trek has made too many series and movies.

It has lost its originality and started to consume the ideas of other series and movies.

What I really would like to see is a remake of the first Movie. It has an original and brilliant idea. However, it is not very impressive visually any longer. Do as in Star Wars, brush up the old stuff.
An enhanced version of TOS could be good. Strip it of the old effects and put in modern ones.

I would like to see a mini series or movie made from Ford's "Final Reflection" and Diane Duane's "The Romulan Way" Possably even recasting the original series and go from there...

I think the main problem with Star Trek is the people producing it. They should remove Rick Berman and replace him with someone who can breathe some new life in to the series. Any premise for a new show will work as long as the right people are behind it, though I’d prefer it to be similar to TNG.

And if the ship gets damaged in one episode, the damage should still be there in the next.
