Frans Kaisepo Airport in Biak Numfor district, Papua province of Indonesia, has been designated as the location from where a Russian satellite will be launched in 2010

Indonesia suppose to be a good place to launch anything to space, this is the first time. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

Hi alokmohan, because it is on the equator, so launch vehicles get a boost from <br />the Earth's rotation, hence in the USA, Canaveral is in Florida, not Alaska <br />(because Florida is in the tropics, so launch vehicles get a boost form the Earth's rotation there).<br /><br />It is the same logic here, with Russian launch vehicles launching from Indonesian <br />Papua (Irian Jaya).<br /><br />Andrew Brown. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p><font color="#000080">"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world.
