If you don't mind me asking, who do you work for? If you don't want to mention your employer publicly, what tp are/were your services on - I might be able to figure it out from that...

I almost feel your pain. About a decade ago I was VP of Engineering for a hotel PPV/VOD cable company that starts with S. Shortly after we sold the company our sat (Gallaxy 5 as I recall) blew-up. Some 1500 sites and 20,000 IRDs had to be touched. Wasn't my problem though since I had hit the silk...

Edward Jones' primary link to their 7500+ branch locations was on that satellite.

Hmm...seems IA-7 is back!
Intelsat, Ltd. today announced that it is pursuing a recovery mission of the Intelsat Americas™-7 satellite, which experienced a sudden and unusual electrical distribution anomaly on November 28. As a result of an intensive recovery effort by the Intelsat technical team, contact and control of the satellite has been regained. Service restoration is underway, with several key customers expected to be operational on IA-7 by the end of the day. Although testing of the satellite's capabilities is still underway, operations have been restored on a portion of the satellite's transponders.

Intelsat press release.
