James Webb Space Telescope finds 1st 'failed star' candidates beyond the Milky Way

This is interesting since I thought metal poor regions were not great places for small stars, including BDs. But I suppose this is more of a Pop II region, not a Pop III.

To find the news of specific BD discoveries you can use the link at the end of the article, which gives the reference paper. The paper shows that they used 8 filters to find 64 individual BD candidates in the SMC.

The SMC, you may recall, is the place Leavitt initially found and published (1912) the first Cepheids (25) outside the MW.
