Would JIMO have required assembly in space? "Would JIMO have required assembly in space? It looked quite large. "<br /><br />It's academic at this point since JIMO is cancelled. But I think size doesn't matter, what really matters is mass. Just look at the huge solar-panel/radiator-panel assemblies of the International Space Station. They massed about 15 tonnes and fit into a Space Shuttle cargo bay. The JIMO spacecraft of less than 20 tonnes mass, no doubt would have used a similar deployment scheme.<br /><br />
