Jupiter's Great Red Spot may survive by gobbling up smaller storms

"The interactions are not necessarily destructive but can transfer energy to the GRS, maintaining it in a steady state and guaranteeing its long lifetime," they added."

This is encouraging news for telescope users like myself. Jupiter's GRS looks very good in my 90-mm refractor telescope using a green filter at 200x. The GRS looks even better in my 10-inch Newtonian :) As I watch the GRS rotate into view, over a period of 3 hours, the GRS marches across the disk (more than half of it) of Jupiter in the eyepiece view. Much fun to watch various Galilean moon events at Jupiter and the GRS appear in the view too :)
