If one were to do some basic research, they would discover that Hydrogen is a indirect-greenhouse gas. In addition, a 2022 study released by the UK government’s Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has found that hydrogen is twice as powerful a greenhouse gas as previously thought. Think about the unknown issues that would be discovered if hydrogen production was ramped up to power our society. To claim that hydrogen is a clean energy source is misleading at best!

Really? They don't know where the hydrogen pockets are? The hydrogen pockets is likely too deep? The hydrogen pockets are too far off shore.? The hydrogen pockets are too small?

I would also add that the article "Just a fraction of the hydrogen hidden beneath Earth's surface could power Earth for 200 years, scientists find" isn't that informative or well written. They could have easily stated, "Just a fraction of the worlds oceans hold enough hydrogen to power Earth for millions of years!"

Catastrophe

"Science begets knowledge, opinion ignorance.
The energy released by that amount of hydrogen is roughly twice the energy stored in all the known natural gas reserves on Earth,

So what? If you don't know where it is, and cannot access it, and finding it and accessing it requires more energy and trouble than it is worth, why bother to mention it.?

Don't forget, we can scarcely scratch the surface of this planet. About 7 miles? Remind us in 500 years.

Why not set up turbines driven by matter attracted to the stars by gravity.
Surely that is (in your dreams) an inexhaustible source of power?

The cheapest, relatively cleanest, and the most un-exhaustable energy is the super heated water in our planet’s crust. And the safest.

This energy is so cheap, all food and livestock for consumption could be done indoors. In controlled environments. And much of the earth’s surface and fresh water features could be renewed with vegetation. Sea water can be pumped inland. With cheap power all kinds of things can be piped and pumped. Not to mention desalination.

Every state or even counties could have it’s own independent grid. And could share the load for maintenance.

Man has plenty of energy for the future. And it’s renewable.

The first country to developed bore hole tech will be energy independent. Cheap power can make up for lots of lack of raw resources. Refining poor ores is no problem. Pollution is no problem. Making concrete is no problem. Refining dirt and soil is no problem. Boring tunnels for mining, utilities and transportation is no problem.

It’s a different world with plenty of cheap power. Power to build and power to restore.
