Looks like there's a new contender for building a moon base.

I just read the article on space.com's site that talked about a russian rocket builder who wants to establish a moon base by 2010. Perhaps we'll finally be pushed into a race to establish a permenant continual presence on the moon.

I hope that they will use a wet lab approach.<br />The craft is nothing more than a lander with 2 large tanks, with air locks built in. Once it lands the remaining fuel is vented or put into smaller tanks to power a fuel cell.<br />The passengers are in a small ascent vehicle which is purely for transporting them and not for habitation.<br /><br />With the correct geometry of tanks you could bolt them together to build an even larger hab.
