Where can i get an detailed map of Mars? I need ALL the known landmars. So far everything I've found has either had lander sites marked or very few landmarks. I need a detailed Map of mars like you would find for earth or the moon. thanks

Order one from National Geographic or from the USGS (United States Geological Survey). They both have detailed Mars Maps. I know because I have two myself (the USGS ones true colour & MOLA).

I think that the USGS offers a true colur Mars Map & another which is the MOLA Map created by the Mars Global Surveyor.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world. The true colour USGS map was made from the Viking Orbiter images. It would not be out of date, as Mars has not altered in that period of time (to the best of our knowledge, the volcanoes have not erupted, or there have hot been huge Marsquakes causing landslides, etc, since the Viking days). It is very detailed & is labled.

Obviously the MOLA map is more 'up to date' seeing as Mars Global Surveyor arrived in Mars orbit in September 1997.

They are both great maps & anyone who has an interest in Mars should have a copy of both. I have a nice moon map as well. If you want the moon, I would strongly suggest 'The Clementine Atlas of the Moon'

The Clementine Atlas of the Moon
Ben Bussey
The Johns Hopkins University
Paul D. Spudis
The Johns Hopkins University.
Hardback (ISBN-13: 9780521815284 | ISBN-10: 0521815282).

A similar publication for Mars would be very useful.

How about this for Mars? http://home.marssociety.org/ares/map/

I will try & obtain similar for Venus & the Galilean moons of Jupiter.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world.
