This is what I love about the MGS team: they love to experiment, and test the limits of their camera. It's like they come to realizations like, "Hey, doing x would make a really cool picture," and they do it. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" /><br /><br />Can't wait for MRO...

It is just amazing what they can do with a line scan camera. I wonder if they changed the readout rate to match the satellite passing and held the orbiter steady or if they panned the camera or both. It doesn't seem likely to me that the satellites passed through the line at the same rate as the planet but software could compensate for that.<br /><br />You have got me wanting to look for the raw pictures and get out the Moc-O-Matic comb! <br /><br />Edit: I posted before I read the link because I got sidetracked checking to make sure I remembered correctly about the line scan. I guess what I really wonder is if they rolled the spacecraft to get the image without changing the chip timing. It just boggles my mind that they can point that well. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>
