2010 Oct. 28: Russian navy launched a pair of R-29-type ballistic missiles. The K-117 Bryansk submarine stationed in the Barents Sea launched an R-29RMU2 Sineva missile at 14:30 Moscow Summer Time toward the Kura impact range on the Kamchatka Peninsula.

On the same day, the K-433 Svaytoi Georgy Pobedonosets submarine launched an R-29R missile from a submerged position in the Sea of Okhotsk toward the Chizha impact range on the Kanin Nos Peninsula.

Russian strategic missile forces, RVSN, conducted the 100th launch of the Topol ICBM from the nation's northern cosmodrome in Plesetsk on Oct. 28, 2010, at 13:59 Moscow Summer Time. The rocket successfully hit its target on the Kamchatka Peninsula 23 minutes after the liftoff, the official military Zvezda TV channel reported. According to an RVSN spokesman, the particular missile was manufactured in 1987 and was operationally deployed in Teikovo missile base until August 2007. Russian military regularly conducts launches of aging missiles to confirm their operational readiness. The latest mission aimed to validate the extension of operational service of the Topol missiles from original 10 years to 23 years.

2010 Oct. 29: The 14th test launch of Russia's Bulava submarine-launched ballistic missile was a complete success, the official media reported Friday. It was the second in a row successful flight of a previously troubled vehicle. The missile lifted off on Oct. 29, 2010, at 05:10 Moscow Time from Dmitry Donskoy submarine stationed in the submerged position in the White Sea. Several minutes later, multiple warheads from the missile successfully hit their targets at the Kura impact range in the Kamchatka Peninsula, Russian Ministry of Defense spokesman said. Another test launch of the Bulava missile was scheduled for December of this year, Russian media reported.

The Russian Navy and Army have performed four successful tests of different ballistic missiles, including the new SLBM Bulava missile, in just over a day, RT reported.
The Bulava (Mace) RSM-56 missile was launched from Dmitry Donskoy, an Akula class heavy ballistic missile submarine, at 05:10 Moscow time on Friday, from the White Sea in Russia’s north. Twenty minutes later, having traveled approximately 8,000 kilometers, its hypersonic maneuverable warheads hit targets at Kura shooting ground in Russia’s Far East Kamchatka region.
After a series of previously unsuccessful tests, the production control was toughened and it seems the previous faults were corrected. The new missile from now on will be tested on the submarines for which it was made – fourth generation Borey class ballistic missile submarines.
Bulava missiles are set to be the cornerstone of Russia’s nuclear triad for at least the next 30 years. Armed with six to ten multiple independently targetable supersonic warheads that cannot be intercepted by any known system, the missile can sustain a nuclear blast several hundred meters away.
Experts agree that Bulava’s technical characteristics will guarantee that Russia will reserve its leading position in the world nuclear club well into the middle of the 21st Century.
Now, it is important to strengthen the positive trends in the Bulava testing, thus additional control measures are taken wrt each missile to be tested in flight. The work aimed at enhancing monitoring of technological processes, material production arrangement, will continue, in order to meet the requirements set by the Ministry of Defense.
