Why are there no rays or cracks radiating from Herschel crater? This is a very strange feature...

Becuase Mimas' gravitational attraction is too weak to bring much of the ejecta from a very-high energy impact back down onto the moon. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature" align="center"><em><font color="#0000ff">- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -</font></em> </div><div class="Discussion_UserSignature" align="center"><font color="#0000ff"><em>I really, really, really miss the "first unread post" function.</em></font> </div> </div>

"Why are there no rays or cracks radiating from Herschel crater? This is a very strange feature... "<br /><br />The most likely answer to the question is that an impactor that large most likely turned a significant portion of Mimas molten upon impact. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <em>"2012..
