Mining the moon's water will require a massive infrastructure investment, but should we do it?

We are in the process of "bungling the jungles" to make make more marginal farmlands. How's that working out? Fossil fuel consumption is contributing global climate change and sea level rise. And now it's time to contemplate "screwing up" the moon which is a major influence upon all life on Earth and part of our orbit stabilization mechanism. "Good Grief".

If I ever go to the Moon, it would be nice if I don't have to take water with me, though, when traveling, I grew-up being told "don't drink the water". ;)

Water is a huge asset and exploiting it for good causes would seem like a given, especially since the hauling costs are only going up. Why burn lots of launch fuel for shipping something that is literally sitting on the ground?
