Modeling weight distribution in young solar systems

I noticed that in our solar system, the heavy planets are in the inner part while lighter planets are farther out. This suggests that gravity plays a role in planetary positions.<br /><br />As the system's star ignites, it starts to blow away debris around it that could form planets. Clearly, however, hydrogen and helium would be less affected than something like iron. So the lighter gases get blown into the outer solar system where the solar wind has less effect. The only thing left to form the inner planets?
