Most of them are not worthy of a remake IMO, and it's a testimony to the lack of creativity that permeates our society. I was a designer in the auto industry, so I know first hand how risk averse the decision makers can become, with the result being products that don't excite customers. The US car companies may never recover because it takes culture change to turn things around, and it doesn't happen overnight. The entertainment industry isn't so capital constrained, so it's not as difficult to overcome, but I still find it frustrating that there are not more new ideas that make it to the big screen.

there are some worthy of not being done again...Metropolis is one of them
it was and still can hold its worth against some of the more $$$ technological block busters of the last 30 years
who ever thought of remaking that one needs to be HSPK and not in that order either :x
