ok. You can see the scan lines I was talking about in the image.

actually you can see the scan lines if you blow the image up a bit. I didn't promise that this image showed anything except the texture of the face is kind of interesting. Sort of reddish weathered lava rock on the east side and glassy-glossy on the west side. don't think it could be ice, but salt? quartz? a glassy effect of finely powdered sand? It will be interesting to see how close the color image is to this when MRO posts it.

you guys will like this. I took a saturation layer of the MRO face, found some interesting details, and mirror-imaged it. Is this the Mi-Go of the H.P. Lovecraft novels? Of course you can produce all kinds of funny pictures by mirror imaging things, but the original detail in this one is something else.

Your the next "MaxTheKnife" LOL. Seriously though, we had a poster here who could have made a career out of mirroring mars surface images. He used the technique to advance theories of martian features being artificial constructs. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p><strong>My borrowed quote for the time being:</strong></p><p><em>There are three kinds of people in life. you guys have no sense of humor... I mean, he actually thought I was seriously claiming that there were Mi-Gos or other Cthulhu mythos critters live and well on Mars.

I didn't think you were seriously claiming artificiality. Thats why I joked about you being the next "MaxTheKnife". <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p><strong>My borrowed quote for the time being:</strong></p><p><em>There are three kinds of people in life. One thing for sure. At least for me, MRO has put this FOM issue to bed. Not that I had any doubts prior to it. In a way, that's kind of sad. Mysteries are cool. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <em>"2012.. Year of the Dragon!! Get on the Dragon Wagon!".</em> </div>
