I think an opportunity is being missed here, the core of the ISS is (or should be) an important artefact in the history of humanity in space and should be preserved for future generations. If it is to deorbited why not send it in a controlled deorbit to the surface of the Moon - that should be possible - rather than send it to the bottom of the ocean. Imagine if the ancient Egyptians has destroyed the monuments of their civilisation?
