Even as brilliant as the engineers are (kudos and much appreciation for that), it's SO hard to believe that there isn't ANY acceptable method to clean the panels, or at least delay the progress of the dust.

Yes of course it would add a certain amount of complexity and/or weight, and yes a mission is "successful" if it accomplishes most of what it set out to accomplish, but isn't a cleaning mechanism a small price to pay, overall, for the vehicle and the mission to have a FAR longer life?
