The Beeb has just unveiled it this week. It's quite different from any of the old ones.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Oh, and for the non-Brit fans....

For Canadian fans, CBC Television has become the first network to buy rights to broadcast the series, so you Canucks can rest assured that you'll get to see the good Doctor.

For Aussie fans, Australia Broadcasting is working to secure rights to broadcast the new series.

For American fans, the news is still maddeningly unspecific. The BBC has confirmed that there is an "interested party" and that the sale is being finalized, but they won't say who it is. The rumor mill seems to indicate that it is probably not a broadcast network, unfortunately.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

I guess I have very mixed feelings about this. On one hand it would be good to see a new series. On the other hand the last few series were dismal, and nothing on the high point achieved by the late Troughton, Pertwee, Baker and early Davidson.

Cheers

Jon

Whether we become a multi-planet species with unlimited horizons, or are forever confined to Earth will be decided in the twenty-first century amid the vast plains, rugged canyons and lofty mountains of Mars Arthur Clarke

Agree Entirely!
Also, the logo above seems more Trekkish than Time Lordish?! Or perhaps FarScapish (which I've never seen)

(I have a Dr. Oo on my staff. I asked him the other day if I could look at his Ardis and he just stared at me blankly).

There were several. I'll rustle up a few for ya during my next break, and post them in the order in which they appeared on the show.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Actually, instead of posting each of them, I found a nifty page with screengrabs of each logo!

DOCTOR WHO TITLE ART

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

I figured I'd use this thread to post some more news...

Actress Zoe Wannamaker (you've probably seen her as the Quidditch instructor Madame Hooch in the Harry Potter films) will make a guest appearance on an episode titled "Survivor", set in a desolate, post-apocalyptic future London.

Reportedly the magazine IPX has some interesting news about the logo. Number one, it will be animated in the opening sequence. Number two, it somehow reflects the interior design of the TARDIS. Does this mean the white walls with regular roundels is gone, along with the vaguely Edwardian look from the 1996 FOX telefilm?

Also, it appears there will not be a regeneration scene to mark the transition to the new Doctor, in an effort to avoid burdening things down too much with backstory, so as not to bore the kiddies who will still be the core audience.

Outpost Gallifrey also had an interesting spoiler about a confrontation between a Dalek and the Doctor. I'm not sure I should reprint it, though. You can always find it on The]http://www.gallifreyone.com/newstv.php]The Doctor Who New Series News Page at Outpost Gallifrey[/url], safely hidden within spoiler tags.

As a change to the format of the series, producers are toying with the idea of having teaser segments preceding the opening credits. Many other TV series have done this successfully, so it could work well. Apparently it's fitting into the early scripts well, so if it works there, they'll probably continue it.

There's also a nice picture of a new alien: click here to see it. No idea what it is.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"
