This is not exactly a question about the cosmos. But does NASA even realize how much "buzz and extreme fan support" they will obtain if they allowed a regular Joe sort of speak to hitch a ride to the Moon the next time they go? Think of it as a world-wide contest. This kind of public interest truly would give space exploration the needed boost, support, and backing it needs from the public.

The added kicker is that corporations will be able to sustain this interest simply by sponsoring and advertising such events to the mainstream public appeal. It's sort of like having a Nike logo on your space boots. Or an Oakley logo on your sun visor. Catch my drift. All this means is that Nasa would not have to pay for everything by themselves. So everybody wins!

Could be an excellent fundraiser. They could have a reality show like American Idol or somesuch to pick someone to go. The hype potential is astounding.

The Disenfranchised Curmudgeon

http://tonyplank.blogspot.com/

I'm not sure I see your point. It would be no different than the teacher in space. You put the same controls around that individual as anyone else.

The Disenfranchised Curmudgeon

http://tonyplank.blogspot.com/
