sqizee - Actually, Pluto is what is was.<br /><br />What has changed is scientific consensus on English word usage.<br /><br />A study of linguistics does show that language usage changes over time for many reasons.<br /><br />Scientific definitions change with science, as old theories are proven wrong by new data.<br /><br />The good thing is that once truth is discovered, it is often accepted. <br /><br />Sadly, in some cases truths are ignored and old theories continue to be popular despite evidence to the contrary.<br /><br />Note my signature.<br /><br />Pluto has some characteristics of a planet, btw. However, it also has characteristics shared by other Kuiper belt objects, most smaller but some of similar size, and one - discussed on another thread - larger than Pluto!<br /><br />One might ask what would constitute a planet if discovered in the Oort cloud?

First of all, proving a solar orbit would be exceedingly difficult, and probably require decades. Its' crazy. I don't know why they just didn't use Pluto as the minimum standard for a planet and go from there...seems like some of these edumacated people just like to throw around their IQ instead of just using common sense...

It's not crazy.
